A custom board needs a Linux system that boots reliably, updates safely and can still be rebuilt in ten years.
We build that system on the mainline kernel and maintained build tools, not on a vendor fork that stops receiving updates. From the first boot on a new board to the image that goes into production.

- Mainline kernel and U-Boot, with as few local patches as possible
